Finding a Simple Yet Rich Life
Building a rich life can sometimes feel like a chore when it comes to also keeping it simple. It is possible to create a simple yet rich life if you find the value in what you’re doing, know what your priorities are, and create balance. One missing piece that most mothers who are called to both involves self-care and making sure you’re prioritizing your own needs.
Focusing on Self-Care
Prior to incorporating self-care into her routine, Kayla was struggling to find fun in her life. After reviewing her Powersheets for years and realizing that fun was her lowest priority for herself, she started to feel the burnout. That’s when Kayla found a hobby that she’d always been interested in and wanted to try—horseback riding.
Now, once a week, Kayla goes horseback riding just for her. This has been a game-changer for her life. Doing this one thing for herself has relieved a lot of the pressures she feels in other parts of her life in which the relief comes from having fun.
The best way that you can give self-care is to do something that you normally wouldn’t do.
Find Fun with this Exercise
If you resonate with that feeling of having zero fun things that are just for you, pull out a piece of paper and write down movies and books that bring you joy and that you resonate with. Review this list and figure out what it is about each that you love. What makes you want to fall into each of them?
For example, in The Parent Trap, Kayla resonates with Halle’s character who lived on a vineyard, camera, and horse. She connects with her on so many levels. These clues sparked what could potentially bring Kayla joy.
Build out your love list!
Tips for Balancing Business & Motherhood
Balancing motherhood and a business can feel difficult, but when you’re living a simple yet rich life, you’ll find that the smallest of things can make the biggest difference. First things first, take a look at your spouse and what makes them feel loved. While their happiness may not be your responsibility, the bare minimum can bring them joy.
For Kayla’s experience with her own husband, this looks like having dinner together as a family—the food doesn’t matter, but the company does. What is it with your spouse? Balancing it all means making your marriage a priority.
Another tip that Kayla has is batching, in both her home and her business. She’s made her home as systematic as possible so that it doesn’t feel like a circus!
