There is one skill could change everything—and you might be resisting it. we’re handing the mic to Nata Salvatori, a photographer, business coach, and podcast host who is diving into one of the most essential and misunderstood strategies for sustainable business growth: delegation.
Listen in as she shares her personal journey from working in healthcare with a full support team to building her own business as a solopreneur. Spoiler: trying to do it all nearly burned her out.
I know delegation brings up resistance—frustration, fear, even past trauma from hiring gone wrong. Here’s the truth: delegation is a skill, not a personality trait. In this episode, she’s showing us how to develop it.
If you’ve ever said, “It’s just faster if I do it myself,” or “I’m not big enough to need help,” this episode is for you.

Why Delegation Feels So Personal
As entrepreneurs, we often attach our value to how much we can handle. We wear our busyness as a badge of honor. But busyness isn’t a business strategy—it’s a burnout plan.
In my previous life as a physical therapist, I had a full team: marketers, front desk staff, billing departments, techs, managers. All of them played a role in allowing me to do what I was best at—treating patients. When I launched my business, all those roles still existed. But guess who was doing them all?
Me.
Sound familiar?
We’ve built businesses on grit and hustle. We’ve been rewarded for being indispensable. But being indispensable keeps us small. Delegation, on the other hand, allows us to lead from a higher level—to be the architect, not the technician.
The 5 Myths That Sabotage Smart CEOs
1. “It’s faster if I do it myself.”
Sure, this might be true today. But every minute you spend on a low-leverage task adds up. That 30-minute recurring task? It costs you over 26 hours a year. Multiply that by five, and you’re burning 130 hours doing work that someone else could do more efficiently.
2. “No one can do it like me.”
Correct—they won’t. They’ll do it differently. And that’s not a bad thing. Different can mean more efficient, more creative, even better. Delegation isn’t cloning yourself. It’s defining the outcome and allowing someone else to reach it their way.
3. “If I hand it off, I’ll lose control.”
Let’s debunk this with a quote Nata loves from Elizabeth Gilbert: “You’re afraid to surrender because you don’t want to lose control. But you never had control. All you had was anxiety.”
True delegation increases control. It creates clarity, structure, and systems. You go from reacting to forecasting.
4. “Delegation is expensive.”
Doing everything yourself is far more costly. Your time has value. If your hourly rate is $100, and you’re spending 10 hours a week on admin, that’s $1,000 a week—or nearly $50,000 a year. Hiring help isn’t indulgent; it’s intelligent.
5. “I’m not big enough to need help.”
If you’re maxed out, you’re big enough. Delegation isn’t just for seven-figure founders. It’s for anyone building sustainably. Even five hours a week of support can transform your business.
What Delegation Really Is
Delegation isn’t dumping. It’s leadership. It’s not saying, “Here, take this.” It’s saying, “Here’s the goal. Here’s what success looks like. Here’s how we’ll check in.” Great delegation includes structure, support, and clear expectations.
Here’s my favorite simple framework to get started:
The Do-Document-Delegate Framework
- Do the task one last time
- Document how you do it (use Loom, notes, checklists, etc.)
- Delegate with a clear outcome, deadline, and communication rhythm
Don’t just explain how to do the task. Explain why it matters to the business. People rise when they understand the mission they’re contributing to.
The Identity Shift You Need
To delegate well, you have to let go of being the hero. You are not the business—you’re the builder of it. That’s a big shift. It means redefining your value. You’re not valuable because you do everything. You’re valuable because you lead effectively.
Letting go doesn’t mean lowering standards. It means expanding your vision and trusting others to carry it forward.
The ROI of Letting Go
Let’s talk about what delegation gives you:
- Mental bandwidth to think, rest, and lead
- More capable and confident team members
- Growth in revenue as you focus on high-leverage tasks
- Freedom to take time off, travel, or simply breathe
- Sustainability, so you don’t crash and burn
You didn’t build your business to be buried in it. You built it for freedom. For joy. For impact. Delegation is what turns that vision into reality.
