Why You Aren’t Getting Visible
As you’re working on your visibility plans within your business, you could be strategizing a Youtube channel, a podcast, social media, website content, or press, yet the thing that often holds us back are our own limiting beliefs.
Showing up online for our business is a really vulnerable concept. You’re facing the fears and doubts that come along with being seen. To overcome it, you have to go through it, not around it.
Your mindset on visibility is either working for you or against you.
Identify Your Limiting Beliefs
Your fears and hesitations may include:
- Your life isn’t all that interesting
- Not knowing what to post
- You don’t like showing your face
- You find your voice annoying
- You don’t want hater comments
- What if someone you know sees it?
- What do you do if you go viral?
- I don’t have time for this
What fears come to you when asked to create a video about your services and put it online? Those are your limiting beliefs. What’s interesting about these limiting beliefs is that they are rooted in a little grain of truth and rationale.
Fill in the blank: I can’t because _______.
When that doubt pops into your mind, notice it. That’s your first step. As you begin to recognize it, the thought expands.
Focus on the Result of Being Seen More than the What If
Your next step is to shift those limiting beliefs into a positive mindset; flip it to want you want in your visibility versus a negative. A positive mindset is going to allow for you to make moves and mistakes without feeling locked in to any mistake or any move as being permanent.
One of my favorite quotes comes from Winston Churchill, “Success is not final. Failure is not fatal. And it is the courage to continue that counts.” As a perfectionist, this quote always helps me to center my mindset and accept that what I’m doing isn’t the end all, be all.
Instead of waiting for your fear, doubts, and hesitations to resolve themselves, find your greater meaning and purpose for creating in the first place. Don’t be the best kept secret, because you need to be heard.
