Have you ever found yourself saying, “I can’t create today because I’m just not feeling it.” You may have bought into the lie that you need to be inspired to create. Maybe it’s not as obvious, but it could be that you’re putting off non-creatives tasks as well.
Inspiration is fickle and you can’t wait for it to show up for you to work in your business. Your business needs you whether you’re inspired or not. In today’s episode, I’m sharing two stories in my own business around inspiration.

Don’t Wait on Inspiration to Get Started
Years ago, I was in the gym and decided I would take this opportunity to multitask and form the Facebook group I’d been thinking about for weeks. I got to the title box and paused—I hadn’t come up with the right name (or even a name at all).
I only knew that I wanted to start a Facebook group for photographers. No name sounded right for encapsulating building a business while locking arms with other creatives. On a whim, I put Photoboss as a temporary placeholder.
I wish I could tell you that this name would eventually resonate, but I didn’t believe in it.
Today, you’ll find over 10,000 members in the Photoboss® Facebook group. That’s right, I never changed the name. The moral of this story isn’t the name, but it’s that in order to make impact, you need to take action.
Hiring a Business Coach to Inspire Accountability
In a more recent example of moving forward without inspiration, earlier this year I simply didn’t feel inspired. I was determined to grow my business, but uninspired.
That’s when and why I hired a business coach. I needed someone to review what I was doing, be an outside view, and hold me accountable. This decision didn’t come from inspiration, it came from taking action and any time I work with a coach I see growth in my brand.
Of course, I have had moments in my business where I’ve had inspiration in my work and it’s so impactful. Inspiration is so valuable, but you don’t need it to take action.
